Local schools get marketing grants

The Tioga High School Marketing Program was awarded a $3,500 grant and Peabody Magnet High School received a $6,500 grant from the Marketing Education Retail Alliance (MERA).

The MERA grant provided materials and equipment for students to improve in several activities. The grant enabled Tioga High School students to obtain an Industry Based Certification both in Sales and Customer Service. Upon completion of the training, the Peabody students will take the National Customer Service Examination.

During the program, students prepared portfolios that included information in handling customer orders, store merchandise and store procedures. Students were able to explore the Marketing Mix, prepare research documents, make presentations and participate in math activities.
